DOMAINE du CLOS DE L’EPINAY /LUC DUMANGE, WINE-GROWER
If you have the opportunity to visit VOUVRAY, come and see the CLOS DE
L’EPINAY where Marie-Claire and Luc will welcome you. The old winery
( XVII and XVIII century ) is closed with wall and you can visit the
vineyard. Marie-Claire speaks English.
In the year 2000, Luc succeded his father Chritian DUMANGE as the owner
of the DOMAINE DE L’EPINAY and the domaine re-adopted its original name : DOMAINE
DU CLOS DE l’EPINAY. The vineyard covers
now 16 ha, 1/3 by ROCHECORBON, 2/3 by VOUVRAY. The production is
arround 100 000 bottles / year.
The culture of the vines is made to product sparkling VOUVRAY : the
speciality of the house which received the SILVER AWARD in the INTERNATIONAL
WINE CHALLENGE Blaye-Bourg 2003
VOUVRAY SPARKLING BRUT CUVEE DU TRICENTANAIRE. Selected by GUIDE HACHETTE
2003/2004.
The last vintages were very good for the STILL wines : 2002 and 2003.
